🧩 Add Device
The Add Device flow allows you to register a new Duck into your network inside the OWL DMS. Every device must be added before it can be flashed and deployed in the field.
🔘 1. Click "Add Device"
Head to the Devices page and click the “Add Device” button in the top right.
🧬 2. Choose Your Duck Type
Select whether this device is a:
- PapaDuck – The gateway node that will connect to the cloud. Every network must have at least one.
- MamaDuck – A node in your mesh that relays or collects data. Can be configured with sensors or positioning.
A PapaDuck will automatically generate the cloud credentials during setup.
🛠️ 3. Fill in Device Info
Based on the Duck type you select, the required fields will update:
- Device Name – auto-generated or custom
- Description - Description of the device or owner or location
- Location - Not an actual location but could be, on roof, on pole etc.
🔐 4. Cloud Credentials
If you selected PapaDuck, OWL will automatically create a unique key pair and connect it to your network. These credentials are securely baked into the firmware during the next step.
